Shake Out

Shake Out.

Thursday 17/10/19 , Yesterday afternoon my school and I did a shake out.

What happened was : The intercom went off saying it was an earthquake drill, everyone scurried underneath a sturdy table, we went into a turtle position and held our head.
Once we got told that we were allowed to get out from underneath the tables we got an evacuation call.
If you don't know what an evacuation call is, it means you have to hurry out of the building as soon as possible.

Once the whole school was out of the classes they all hurried out of the gates and ran up the hill.
When we are all up the hill Mrs O and Mrs Drake talked to us about what we would have to do if this was a real tsunami and earthquake.

They both finished talking so we were allowed to go down the hill.. We walked back to our classrooms and talked about what we could of improved on.

  1. Hi Bailee! My name is Mia from Yaldhurst Model School. I love the way that you have added in lot's of details about what happened and how it works and why. Great work too on making sure it's in chronological order (which means time order)!

I remember our school did a drill, it was in the middle of a Student Council meeting and I bonked my head on the chair leg while underneath the table.

To improve, I think that you could've put it into a slide or something creative to explain the events and what you did.
Why did you do this? And how many times do you do these 'Shake Out's' a year?

    Awesome work!

    1. Hi Mia! My name is Bailee from Grey Main School. Thanks for the feedback on my blog post. Next time I will definitely make it into a slide instead.

We had an earthquake drill to let all the younger kids know what to do in a fire and to make sure the older students could help them!

Why did your school do a drill?

  2. Hey Bailee!
My name is Maddiosn I am a year 7 student a Yaldhurst Model School.

Lots of schools have had this same earthquake drill including mine. I knew it was happening because I was told by one of our teachers the reason for this is because I was leaving the class room and needed to know when to come back.

I really liked how you have written everything out in chronological order ( in the time order).
I think that for you to improve it would be good if you added in some colour, photos or videos.

I was under a table it a very small space so it was extremely uncomfortable.

    - Kind regards, Maddie.
